The fair runs in Roseville June 21-24. Included in the fair's festivities are three contests: Beard and mustache, pie-eating and watermelon-eating.

If you fit any of the above characteristics, consider entering in one of the Placer County Fair’s friendly competitions this weekend.

They’ll be holding two eating contests: pie and watermelon, and a beard and mustache contest. All contests will be held on the Beer Garden stage at the fairgrounds.

was such a success that they’re bringing it back for a second year — this time with more categories.

“Last year, we had world champions come out and compete,” said Ryan Scalise with Moustache and Beard Social Club, in a news release. Scalise is organizing the event.

This year, they’re adding categories like lady’s fake beard and kids fake facial hair.

“With the addition of the kids category, we should have one heck of a competition,” Scalise said. “I’m excited to see what people come up with.”

If you rock a perfectly groomed goatee or your handlebar mustache raises eyebrows, consider entering one of the categories:

  • Full Beard under one foot
  • Full Beard over one foot
  • Partial Beard (any combination or style that does not have its own category)
  • Moustache (no styling aids allowed)
  • Styled Moustache (styling aids are allowed)
  • Business Beard (Closely trimmed beard that looks well with a tie and a briefcase)
  • Whiskerina (Ladies fake beard or moustache category)
  • Just wait till I can grow the real deal (for the kids)

The contest starts at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. The $5 entry fee will benefit Ride to Walk nonprofit organization.
