A full press release from the Roseville Police Department follows:

Today Roseville Police detectives arrested a former treasurer and her husband on suspicion of embezzling more than $173,000 from the Roseville Youth Soccer (RYS) organization.

In November, RYS officials notified Roseville Police of their suspicions that their former treasurer, Heather Sanford, had stolen a substantial amount of money from the youth sports organization from 2011 to 2012.

Roseville detectives conducted an investigation and developed probable cause to arrest the former treasurer and her husband.  The investigation uncovered evidence that Mrs. Sanford had written checks on the organization's account to her husband, made cash withdrawals and used the organization's debit card to purchase items for their personal use.

On April 17, 2013 Roseville Police detectives arrested Christopher Lawrence Sanford and Heather Jo Sanford, both age 40 of Carmichael, on suspicion of embezzlement, grand theft and conspiracy.  They will be held in the Placer County Jail on $173,000 bail.
