​Man Accused Of Multiple Sexual Assaults In NorCal

Bernarnino Vazquez, 25, is currently being held at the Sacramento County Main Jail on firearm and assault charges.

SACRAMENTO CONTY, CA — A Rio Vista man arrested in July has now allegedly been linked to multiple sexual assaults throughout Northern California, the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office said.

Bernarnino Vazquez, 25, was arrested by the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office on July 3 for allegedly discharging a shotgun. The next day, police in Sacramento said Vazquez was positively identified in a photo line-up for allegedly assaulting a massage therapist.

San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office investigators were then able to link Vazquez to cases under investigation in their jurisdiction, the office said.

During an interview with detectives, Vazquez allegedly confessed to multiple sexual assaults across Thornton, Isleton, Elk Grove, Stockton, and Sacramento, with the earliest reported on January 12, 2025, the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office said.

Vazquez is currently being held at the Sacramento County Main Jail on firearm and assault charges. Additional charges are expected from the San Joaquin County District Attorney's Office as the investigation continues, according to the Sheriff's Office.

In one of these cases, a victim reported that when she was screaming for help, porch lights shut off on her street as she was being attacked, the Sheriff's Office alleges. The office urges people to call 911 when they hear any disturbances.
