1. $1 million AI grant to be shared by California universities – [your]NEWS (yournews.com) — Cal State San Bernardino is receiving $600,000 from a new $1 million National Science Foundation grant to expand AI classes, research, and community support, with UC Riverside getting the remaining $400,000. Local students, many from low-income families, will gain new AI coursework and an “AI help desk” aimed at assisting Inland Empire businesses and organizations with real-world technology challenges and ethics.
   

2. Appleberry Juice Contaminated With Cleaning Fluid Sparks Recall Warning (newsweek.com) — If you have kids in San Bernardino schools, be aware that certain half-pint cartons of Hollandia Dairy’s 100% Appleberry Juice served on campuses are under FDA Class II recall for possible cleaning-fluid contamination. No illnesses have been reported, but schools are instructed not to serve the juice and to dispose of any remaining cartons while the recall continues.
   

3. Person Found Dead Following Structure Fire in Lucerne Valley; Bomb Squad Requested (vvng.com) — San Bernardino County Fire officials say a Lucerne Valley house fire Monday evening left one person dead, prompting bomb squad assistance over concerns about possible explosives. Crews attacked the blaze defensively, then found an adult victim once the structure was safe to enter. Investigators are still working to determine the cause, and the victim’s identity has not yet been released.
   

4. 3 hospitalized after boat crash in western Arizona (azfamily.com) — San Bernardino Fire Department crews helped respond to a serious boat crash on the Colorado River near Lake Havasu, where three people were pulled from the water and hospitalized. Two victims had minor injuries and one was more seriously hurt after their boat apparently struck a sandbar and flipped. The crash remains under investigation, highlighting regional river-safety concerns for Inland Empire boaters.
