1 Wounded In Chollas View-Area Shooting

SAN DIEGO, CA — A shooting in a Chollas View-area neighborhood left one person wounded Tuesday and prompted lockdowns at multiple nearby schools as police looked for the gunman.
The gunfire erupted at about 12:45 p.m. Tuesday in the 1000 block of 47th Street, north of Hilltop Drive and just south of state Route 94, according to the San Diego Police Department.

Paramedics took the victim to a hospital for treatment of a non-life- threatening leg wound, according to police.
Administrators at nearby Gompers Preparatory Academy and Horton Elementary School secured students and staffers indoors as a precaution while officers searched the neighborhood for the shooter, who remained at large as of mid-afternoon, the sergeant said.
