  1. A condo community in Tierrasanta is scrambling to find property insurance after being canceled by Farmers Insurance. Now, they are forced to find insurance on the open market where prices are outrageous. The condos are connected, sharing walls, and are located on the edge of a canyon. Estimated costs for replacement insurance would add $7000 per year per unit. Homeowners are devastated. (CBS News 8)
  2. A Bankers Hill man is fed up and he’s not going to take it anymore! So, he is organizing a payment strike against SDG&E. The skyrocketing costs San Diegans have endured recently have resulted in many having to choose between paying their mortgage, buying groceries, or getting their meds. The payment strike would start June 1 and so far 170 people have signed the online petition. (ABC 10 News San Diego KGTV)
  3. Now that COVID-19 has subsided, San Diegans may wish to begin traveling again, and there’s good news! Beginning June 15, Alaska Airlines will offer daily nonstop flights from San Diego to Eugene, Oregon, and D.C. In addition, beginning Oct. 15, the airline will offer daily nonstops to Tampa, Florida. The service will add 35 nonstop destinations from San Diego to the East Coast and Pacific Northwest. (NBC San Diego)
  4. Girl Scout cookies are back in San Diego along with Operation Thin Mint. Sales of the much-loved cookies help to fund camps, community projects, and their S.T.E.M. programs. About 9,000 girls will participate in the cookie program this year. Operation Thin Mint, will continue again this year to give our military personnel around the world a taste of home. (KPBS)
