SAN DIEGO, CA — San Diego Humane Society is seeking homes for 135 guinea pigs, including dozens recently rescued from a recreational vehicle in Ocean Beach.
San Diego Humane Society's law enforcement team on Dec. 18 rescued 51 guinea pigs from an RV home after their owner died. The pets were examined and determined to be in good health.
San Diego Humane Society now has 135 guinea pigs in its care at the nonprofit's campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside and San Diego.

"Now these animals are ready for their second chance, along with the dozens of guinea pigs who were already available for adoption at SDHS," the organization said in a news release.
The animals, which are spayed or neutered, can be adopted as singles or in bonded pairs, according to San Diego Humane Society.

"Guinea pigs make incredible companions, and the organization hopes these deserving animals will find their way into warm hearts and homes this holiday season," the organization said.
San Diego Humane Society is open for walk-in adoptions from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday at all four campuses. All locations close at 2 p.m. on New Year's Eve and will be closed on New Year's Day.
