After Rehab, CA Woman Finds Success Through Skin Care Business
Molly Beane is the founder of From Molly With Love, a skin care company that's sold worldwide. But she is not your typical success story.

SAN DIEGO, CA -- San Diego resident Molly Beane is the embodiment of success. The founder of the all-natural, organic skincare line From Molly With Love sells thousands of her products a month, less than two years after starting her business in her home kitchen.
Beane’s products, which are sold in more than 80 stores across several counties, can also be found on Amazon, the online commerce giant that attracts millions of customers daily.
But, Beane isn’t just your typical success story. A recovering alcoholic, Beane said she had a rough childhood before she found relief through liquor as an adult.

“I could go days without drinking but when I had a drink, I couldn’t stop,” said Beane, 32. “I could drink two bottles of wine a night then drank more on the weekends. It was definitely enough to kill a horse.”
Beane said she had an alcohol addiction for roughly 10 years while working an unfulfilling job in the public relations and marketing industry.

“I had a moment where I was sitting at my desk, hungover and wondering how many times I was going to feel this over and over again,” Beane said. “I just had enough. I didn’t want to feel sick anymore. I hate the feeling of self-loathing.”
At the encouragement of a therapist, Beane entered a rehabilitation facility for 30 days. It was there that she decided to pursue her passion for healthy skin care products.
Beane said she began making skin care products in 2013 after watching a documentary about the industry and, what she calls, the dangerous ingredients often used in the industry.
“I dove into cosmetic formulation books like a mad scientist,” Beane said. “I began making products for myself and friends in my kitchen. I imagine the Silicon Valley guys who began coding in their garages. I am the equivalent of that.”
Beane eventually formed her company in August 2016 and applied to sell her products on Amazon Handmade, where it took off, she said.
“Amazon affords you, as an Indie seller or artisan, the opportunities to get your name out there,” Beane said. “We’ve been growing exponentially since then.”
In just 18 short months, Beane has hired four employees to help her produce more than 40 skin care products. She said her products differ from other all-natural companies because she ensures her items are affordable. They also focus on positive marketing campaigns, she said.
“We’re not calling it anti-aging creams or anti-wrinkle creams. We’re not preying on your insecurities,” Beane said. “We want everyone to have access to clean skin care and clean products.”
The positive marketing is paying off for Beane. From Molly With Love generated more than $100,000 in revenue last quarter with the company projecting a growth rate of seven times this year, Beane said.
But, more importantly, Beane wants to be open about her past life with the hope that it will inspire other people who may be experiencing similar obstacles.
“I am an open book,” Beane said. “When we continue to leave things in the shadow, it doesn’t help anyone. I want people to know you can come through on the other side. You can still accomplish what you want to accomplish.”
