Applicants Sought For San Diego County's Citizens' Law Enforcement Review Board

CLERB investigates citizen complaints against San Diego County Sheriff's deputies and probation officers.

SAN DIEGO, CA — San Diego County is seeking applicants for an open seat on the Citizens' Law Enforcement Review Board.

Established in 1990, CLERB investigates citizen complaints against San Diego County Sheriff's deputies and probation officers.

The 11 members of CLERB include two from each of the five supervisorial districts and one seat chosen at large from any of the districts. The vacancy is for the at-large seat which is open to any eligible resident in the county.

The San Diego County Board of Supervisors appoints CLERB members for three-year terms that are staggered beginning on July 1 and ending on June 30.

Applicants must be a registered voter in the county, should attend a CLERB meeting or watch a past meeting prior to applying for the vacant seat, and must complete a training course within three months of the appointment. Applicants cannot be a county employee, be affiliated with the county, or currently hold a position as a sworn law enforcement officer.
