SAN DIEGO, CA — A suspect was behind bars Thursday in connection with a 2023 assault in Ocean Beach that led to the victim's death nearly three months after the fact.

Andrew Phillip Restrepo, 36, was arrested Tuesday afternoon on Fifth Avenue in the Gaslamp District on suspicion of fatally beating 35-year-old Sean Glenn on May 10 of last year, according to the San Diego Police Department.

Shortly before 11 p.m. that day, Restrepo allegedly walked up to Glenn in the 5000 block of Newport Avenue and punched him, knocking him unconscious, SDPD Lt. Lou Maggi said.

Glenn remained hospitalized until his death on Aug. 5, 2023, according to police, who have disclosed no suspected motive for the alleged assault.

Investigators believe that Restrepo is also responsible for a similar attack -- one that took place on a city bus in the Midway area in the same month during which Glenn was fatally injured, Maggi said.
