Average San Diego County Gas Price Drops For 19th Consecutive Day

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County dropped Monday for the 19th consecutive day since rising to a record, decreasing a half cent to $5.76.

The average price has dropped 67.5 cents over the past 19 days, including 1.5 cents Sunday, according to figures from the AAA and the Oil Price Information Service. The decreases follow a run of 32 increases in 33 days totaling $1.213.

The average price is at its lowest since Sept. 25 and 29.7 cents less than one week ago. However, it is 10.8 cents more than one month ago and $1.258 higher than one year ago.

“There are already several Southern California stations charging $5 a gallon or less for regular unleaded, and we expect that number to grow in coming days,” Marie Montgomery, a public relations specialist with the Automobile Club of Southern California, told City News Service.

The national average price dropped for the 12th time in 13 days, decreasing two-tenths of a cent to $3.793, its lowest amount since Sept. 29. It has dropped 13 cents over the past 13 days, including eight-tenths of a cent Sunday.

The national average price is 9.5 cents less than one week ago, but 9.3 cents more than one month ago and 40.8 cents higher than one year ago. It is $1.223 less than the record of $5.016 set June 14.
