  1. The White House Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) came to San Diego to announce a plan to increase collaboration between San Diego’s Meth Strike Team and the ONDCP’s San Diego & Imperial Beach High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas program. The plan includes training for healthcare providers, law enforcement, and the community. It also aims to forge relationships with China, India, Mexico, and other countries to target drug trafficking. According to the Health and Human Services Agency "Accidental drug deaths are a scourge on our community. Last year 919 San Diegans died of an accidental overdose. That’s a grim 82 percent increase between 2017 and 2021. Of those 2021 deaths, 863, or 94 percent, involved opioids or methamphetamine.” "More than 50% of all the meth, heroin, cocaine, and fentanyl seized on the southwest border is seized in the San Diego and Imperial County Region" said Nick Macchione, with HHSA's strike team. How about walking a distance to the nearest gas station and forgetting your card’s PIN number. Officer Joseph was flagged down near a gas station by a frustrated man that explained his situation. Officer Joseph bought the man some gas, gave him a quick ride to his vehicle, and had him on his way." (Facebook)
