‘Black Adam' Rocks To Top Of Box Office With $67 Million Opening Over Weekend

The Rock has knocked Michael Myers from atop the box office heap as “Black Adam” opened with $67 million to lead all films in North America, according to industry estimates released Sunday.

The DC Comics adaptation beat out another film opening this week, the Julia Roberts-George Clooney vehicle “Ticket to Paradise,” which took in $16.3 million Friday through Sunday at theaters in the United States and Canada, Comscore reported.

Horror films took the next two spots with Halloween weekend fast approaching. “Smile” was third with $8.3 million in its fourth week in theaters. “Halloween Ends” slipped to fourth place with $8 million, one week after opening in first place with over $41 million.

Fifth place went to family film “Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile,” which grossed $4.2 million in its third week.

Rounding out the top 10 domestic releases, as estimated by Comscore, were “The Woman King” ($1.9 million), “Terrifier 2” ($1.89 million), “Don’t Worry Darling” ($880,000), “Amsterdam” ($818,000) and “Triangle of Sadness” ($600,000).
