Here are three of the top stories in San Diego today:

  1. Once again, our firefighters are our heroes. Fire crews contained an area north of the U.S.-Mexico border. The blaze burned 577 acres east of Marron Valley near Border Road. Five people were taken from the burn zone. Paramedics brought two to the hospital. Firefighters continue to contain the fire. To learn more: Click into parenthesis, then click the link. (Patch)
  2. It seems like a bad dream that keeps recurring. Over 1,857 cases of COVID-19 were confirmed on Friday. Another 1,387 cases were confirmed on Saturday, another 1,363 cases on Sunday, and 1,062 cases on Monday. That equals 5,669 new cases. If this dramatic rise concerns you, take precautions. Wear a mask, wash your hands fully and often, get the vaccine or a booster as needed. Protect yourself! To learn more: Click into parenthesis, then click the link. (Patch)
  3. Tribal leaders from the San Pasqual Band of Mission Indians have "commissioned a new microgrid for the tribal government complex in Valley Center." The microgrid can disconnect from the larger power grid and operate on its own when needed. It will power the area utilizing solar, wind, and other sources for emergency use.
