Crews Stop Brush Fire Near Mount Laguna In San Diego County

Fire officials asked people to avoid the area.

SAN DIEGO, CA — Crews halted the spread of a brush fire Wednesday afternoon near Mount Laguna in eastern San Diego County.

The blaze, called the Penny Fire, sparked off Sunrise Highway near Penny Pines trailhead, northwest of Mount Laguna, according to Cleveland National Forest officials.

Firefighters with Cal Fire and Cleveland National Forest fought the flames, which spread roughly nine acres. There were no reports of structural damage or injuries.
