Brush Fires Spark, Force Freeway Closure In Mission Valley
Crews were mopping up the area.
SAN DIEGO, CA — Crews halted two brush fires that forced a freeway closure Tuesday afternoon in the Mission Valley area of San Diego, authorities said.
The first blaze was reported around 12:30 p.m. in the 2400 block of Murphy Canyon road and burned about a 50' by 50' area of brush, according to San Diego Fire-Rescue Department. A second fire sparked in the area of Rancho Mission Road at Camino del Rio North.
Crews stopped both fires and were mopping up the area. No structures were threatened or damaged and no injuries were reported.

All lanes on southbound Interstate 15 at Friars Road were stopped due to the fire, according to Caltrans.
