Cal Fire: Dulzura Blaze Fully Contained
A fire that started Sunday south of the community of Dulzura in the East County and burned 21 acres has been fully contained.
SAN DIEGO, CA — A fire that started Sunday south of the community of Dulzura in the East County and burned 21 acres has been fully contained.
The blaze was first reported at 12:10 p.m. in remote terrain near Marron Valley Road and Otay Mountain Truck Trail, near the U.S.-Mexico border, said Captain Thomas Shoots of Cal Fire spokesman.
Shoots said via text message just before 5:30 p.m. that firefighters will be "clearing the incident within the next couple of hours."

He said around 95 firefighters were originally dispatched to the site, and two of them suffered minor injuries, one to his ankle.
No structures were threatened. The fire could have grown to thousands of acres without suppression efforts, he said.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
