The park has been expanded to 1.5 acres, with upgraded amenities and new recreation activities for all ages, interests and abilities.

NATIONAL CITY, CA — Lincoln Acres County Park has been expanded to 1.5 acres and revamped with upgraded amenities – and the public is invited to join the County of San Diego Parks and Recreation (DPR) for its grand re-opening ceremony on Saturday.

The ceremony for the park, which will also offer new recreation opportunities for residents of all ages, abilities and interests, will take place at the park (2717 Granger Ave., National City) from 1 to 3:30 p.m. It is free to attend and family-friendly, and will begin with a presentation featuring local dignitaries and a memorial plaque dedication.

After the dedication, a DJ will play music during a 2-hour open house with hands-on activities at more than 10 stations throughout the park. The activities will include local history facts, reading resources, educational workshops, fitness classes and photo opportunities with local safety personnel.

Parking is limited, and additional parking with a shuttle service will be available from Granger Junior High School and Lincoln Acres Elementary School.

The project began when DPR acquired a parcel of land adjacent to the existing park to expand recreational opportunities for the community, the Department said on its website. The improvements were designed with the community through multiple workshops, and construction began after the concept plan was finalized in June 2020.
