CHP Stops 'Dangerous Motorcycle Takeover' On San Diego Freeways
The riders performed risky stunts and blocked traffic across two freeways between San Diego and Solana Beach, the CHP said.
SAN DIEGO, CA — Authorities issued citations to 30 riders and impounded their motorcycles after they performed risky stunts and blocked traffic across two freeways between San Diego and Solana Beach.
The "dangerous motorcycle takeover" started around 8 a.m. Saturday, when a group of motorcyclists entered northbound Interstate 805 at Imperial Avenue in San Diego, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The riders started driving recklessly and performing stunts, slowing traffic for about 24 miles, CHP Officer Hunter Gerber said. By 8:30 a.m., the group exited Interstate 5 at Via De La Valle in Solana Beach, where CHP officers moved in and directed the riders into a nearby parking lot.
