- Give officials a piece of your mind! The City of San Diego wants your opinion on the 56-year-old Ocean Beach Pier. The options are repair, rehabilitate or replace. According to a 2018 study completed by an outside consultant, a replacement would be the best option — considering the ongoing costs of repairs, the need to modernize the facility and the anticipated future sea level rise. - Rain, floods, potholes, sinkholes and closed roads cause a traffic nightmare in San Diego. Even more roads are being closed as the latest storm brings high winds and torrential rains to our area. Stay at home if you can and avoid the inclement weather. If you must drive, check out this list of road closures around town: SanDiegoCounty.gov.
- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a recall of products due to a hepatitis A outbreak. The products originated from California Splendor, Simply Nature and the Scenic Fruit Company. Frozen strawberry and tropical fruit products sold at Costco, Aldi and Trader Joe’s should not be ingested and should be returned to stores for a full refund. (East County Magazine)
- On Monday, the San Diego Humane Society’s Project Wildlife team helped rescue an osprey who was wrapped in fishing line and caught on her nest above a light pole in Ocean Beach. The osprey tried desperately to free herself and bring food to her three babies. Luckily, her partner stayed close by and brought food to the nestlings and their mom. Using a bucket truck provided by SDG&E, rescuers cut the bird free. With only minor injuries, she was released and returned to her nestlings. (NBC San Diego)
