- After years spent advocating for change, the Climate🌵⛈️Action Campaign has filed a lawsuit against the City of San Diego for failure to implement a strategy for its Climate Action Plan. The lawsuit is an attempt to compel the city to enforce the plan, to keep it on track timewise, and to provide funding to make the plan happen. “We support the City's Climate Action Plan," said Climate Action Campaign's board president, Patti Larchet. "Our aim is to secure a properly detailed implementation plan with costs and funding that ensures we reach the CAP goals on time, and we secure a healthy, safe, equitable, and livable city.” The group said it agrees with the mayor’s plan, but they want to be sure the plan is implemented. - A series of storms⛈️⛈️⛈️in 2019 and 2021 caused severe damage to the pier. It has survived harsh weather and has now exceeded its life expectancy. Now, the City of San Diego is moving ahead to replace the Ocean Beach Pier. “It gets so much more expensive every time it gets damaged, that you know at some point we can’t repair it anymore,” said Denny Knox, executive director for Ocean Beach Mainstreet Association. “The two pilings that are on the other side of the pier café are the most damaged,” Knox added. The city needs to do something before the pier becomes unusable. To learn more: Click into parenthesis, then click the link. (FOX 5 San Diego)
