SAN DIEGO, CA — The U.S. Coast Guard continues to conduct deportation flights between California and Texas as part of the Trump administration's efforts to remove people in the country illegally.
Throughout last week, the agency coordinated the actions of multiple units in support of the operation, which is led by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the Coast's Guard's San Diego office announced Saturday.
"These flights continue the Coast Guard's actions to surge assets from around the nation to secure U.S. borders, territorial integrity, and sovereignty," the Coast Guard said in a news release. "Through its longstanding immigration enforcement mission, the service is detecting, deterring and interdicting aliens, drug smugglers and individuals intent on terrorism or other hostile activity before they reach the border."
