Coast Guard Stops Boat Carrying 10 Migrants Off Point Loma

All 10 people aboard claimed Mexican nationality, according to USCG officials.

SAN DIEGO, CA — The U.S. Coast Guard stopped a boat carrying 10 suspected migrants off the coast of Point Loma, officials said.

The Coast Guard Sector San Diego Joint Harbor Operations Center was alerted around 2:30 a.m. Monday to an unidentified vessel sailing toward U.S. waters, prompting the dispatch of a patrolling Coast Guard cutter, according to USCG officials.

The Coast Guard Cutter Forrest Rednour boarding team intercepted a 15-foot panga around 4 a.m. about 9 miles southwest of Point Loma, officials said. All 10 people aboard claimed Mexican nationality.
