County Gives $600K To Rural School Districts For Broadband Service
The funding will bring high-speed broadband service to 900 students in the Warner, San Pasqual and Vallecitos school districts.
SAN DIEGO, CA — San Diego County awarded $600,000 to three rural school districts in an effort to reduce the digital divide and increase the availability of high-speed internet for schools in the unincorporated areas of the region.
"Ensuring students have access to reliable internet is a key step in supporting their academic achievement and fostering opportunities for growth within the community," said Dahvia Lynch, general manager of the county's Land Use and Environment Group leading broadband efforts for the county.
The funding will bring high-speed broadband service to 900 students in the Warner, San Pasqual and Vallecitos school districts.

Warner Unified School District was awarded $479,000 to provide fiber at three school sites. San Pasqual Union School District was awarded $73,000 to provide fiber to K-8 students. Vallecitos Elementary School District was awarded $48,000 to provide fiber to students.
This funding came from county funds designated to increase broadband access in 2021, according to the county. The San Diego County Office of Education selected the schools that would receive awards.
