County Reports 473 New COVID Cases, 4 Deaths As Thousands Step Up For Bivalent Boosters
That brings the cumulative case totals since the pandemic began in early 2020 to 918,279. The death toll stands at 5,483.

San Diego County public health officials reported another 473 new COVID-19 cases Thursday, along with four more deaths.

According to the county Health and Human Services Agency, since the last report Monday, covering cases reported through Sunday, there were:
- 299 new cases Monday, and
- 479 infections Tuesday.
That brings the cumulative case totals since the pandemic began in early 2020 to 918,279. The death toll stands at 5,483.

Of the nine recent deaths, five victims were women, four were men. Five were 80 or older, while three were 70 or older. One was in his or her 60s. All had underlying medical conditions, while five were fully vaccinated.
In addition, there are 207 COVID patients in local hospitals, with 26 in need of intensive care.
Meanwhile, the county has administered more than 400 bivalent boosters since limited supplies began to arrive earlier this month. Total injections from all providers has surpassed 34,000. Those ages 12 and above are eligible.
