  1. Right now, there are more than 7,000 cases of a new COVID-19 variant right here in San Diego. “We’re seeing people who have been very careful for two-and-a-half years becoming infected with these strains of virus, which I think reflects their really extreme transmissibility,” said Robert Schooley, chief of the UC San Diego Health Division of Infectious Diseases. These strains may result in more hospitalizations and deaths. To learn more: Click into parenthesis, then click the link. (inewsource)
  2. The Imperial Beach Pier will be the venue for a drone show with synchronized music. This will be a new July 4 event for Imperial Beach. Fire danger from traditional fireworks is one of reasons behind the change. Noise, smoke, and debris were also reasons that contributed to the change according to City Manager Andy Hall. The Verge Aero will produce the show for Imperial Beach. To learn more: Click into parenthesis, then click the link. (FOX 5 San Diego)
  3. His mother taught him well! A young man, Adrian Rodriquez, found a purse in a supermarket parking lot and was determined to deliver it back to the rightful owner. Folks in Chula Vista pooled their money and rewarded Rodriquez for his honesty and admirable character. They donated more than $1,115 in less than a day. “It feels good. I appreciate it. I really do, everything everybody’s doing,” said Rodriquez. “My mom always told me since I was little to always do the right thing when nobody’s around.” What would Rodriquez do with the gift? He wasn’t sure. but he did mention getting gas for his car. To learn more: Click into parenthesis, then click the link. (NBC San Diego)
