Crash Sparks 50-Acre Brush Fire In SD County

A crash Saturday ignited a quick-moving brush fire near Jamul.

JAMUL (CNS) - Authorities say no one was injured in a two-vehicle crash that started a 50-acre brush fire near Jamul.

The fire broke out late Saturday afternoon in a residential area near 12998 Proctor Valley Road. Officials said one or both of the vehicles in the crash caught fire and it spread to nearby brush, quickly growing to 50 acres.

With the help of the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, the blaze was extinguished around 7:47 p.m. Saturday, according to the San Diego County Fire Department.

"No loss of property except for the two vehicles that were the cause of the fire. The 2 occupants were uninjured," the department tweeted.
