  1. Dentist Dr. Khuong Nguyen performed unnecessary procedures on children. He performed unnecessary root canals and placed steel crowns on baby teeth. Nguyen is now able to practice dentistry once again after just three years' probation. Before you go in for dental work, you may want to find out if your dentist has any charges against them. You can advocate for yourself and your children by checking out the dental board website here. (NBC San Diego)
  2. The city’s inclement Weather Shelter Program can be activated during heavy rain, wind, or other extreme conditions. Three shelters in the city have now increased bed capacity to help homeless people during the current rainstorms. If you or someone you know needs shelter, call 211 to find out where there are beds available. (NBC San Diego)
  3. There is a new sheriff in town, and her name is Kelly Martinez. Having served in the department for more than 37 years in every capacity from deputy on up, she now holds the title of the first female sheriff in San Diego County. Martinez plans to recruit for the open positions now available in the department, including jobs such as food service workers, laundry workers, cooks, public safety workers, and nurses among others. She also plans to target specific issues such as the high count of inmate deaths in county prisons. (KUSI)
