Driver Arrested On Suspicion Of DUI At Oceanside Checkpoint

Of the 1,361 vehicles that passed through the checkpoint, 23 were cited for driving on a suspended license or driving without a license.

OCEANSIDE, CA — One driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol at a checkpoint, police said Saturday.

The checkpoint was conducted from 7 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Friday in the 3400 block of Oceanside Boulevard, according to Sgt. Rick Davis of the Oceanside Police Department.

Of the 1,361 vehicles that passed through the checkpoint, 23 drivers were cited for driving on a suspended license or driving without a license, the sergeant said.

"As businesses continue to reopen, including bars and restaurants, impaired driving remains a top safety concern," Davis said.

Oceanside police planned to conduct another checkpoint on July 16, he said.
