Driver Dead After Veering Off Freeway Exit, Crashing Into Light Pole In San Diego
The Lexus exited the freeway, crossed the intersection at the bottom of the off-ramp and crashed into a light pole.

SAN DIEGO, CA — A woman was killed Wednesday when the SUV she was driving veered off a freeway exit and crashed into a light pole, authorities said.
The collision happened at 12:12 p.m. Wednesday on the connector from eastbound state Route 52 to Mast Boulevard, near Mission Trails Regional Park in San Diego, according to the California Highway Patrol. The Lexus exited the freeway, crossed the intersection at the bottom of the off-ramp and crashed into a light pole.
The 66-year-old victim died at the scene of the accident, CHP Officer Michael Wessendorf said. Her name was withheld pending family notification.

The collision remained under investigation. Alcohol and drugs were not believed to be factors in crash, Wessendorf said.
