Driver Sought In Fatal Hit-And-Run In North County

The CHP said the suspect was driving a dark-colored, possibly green pickup truck.

ESCONDIDO, CA — Authorities asked for the public's help Wednesday in finding the suspect in a deadly hit-and-run crash in San Diego's North County.

A man was struck and killed by a pickup truck around 6 p.m. Saturday in the area of Rock Springs Road and Coral Glen in Escondido, according to the California Highway Patrol.

"For reasons still under investigation, following the collision the unknown vehicle fled the scene," the CHP said in a news release.

The 32-year-old Escondido man was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to the Escondido Police Department. His name was withheld pending family notification.

Authorities released photos of the suspect vehicle Wednesday. The CHP said the suspect was driving a dark-colored, possibly green pickup truck.
