Drivers Beware: Increased Officer Presence On Super Bowl Sunday
Any drivers who appear to be driving under the influence or drugs or alcohol will be arrested.

SAN DIEGO, CA -- Officers will increase DUI patrols Sunday as Americans tune in for the Super Bowl.
The San Diego County Sheriff's Department said it is teaming up with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the California Office of Traffic Safety to keep impaired drivers off San Diego's roadways on Super Bowl Sunday.
Watch for increased DUI patrols by deputies across the county beginning 3 p.m. Sunday and lasting through 5 a.m. Monday.

Any drivers who appear to be driving under the influence or drugs or alcohol will be arrested, warned Sheriff Bill Gore.
"Crashes caused by impaired driving are 100 percent preventable," Gore said.

In 2017, 1,225 people were arrested for DUI by sheriff's deputies.
The Sheriff's Department has these tips for a safe Super Bowl Sunday:
• Plan a safe way home before the game begins
• Before drinking, designate a sober driver and leave your car keys at home
• If you're impaired, use a taxi, ride sharing service, call a sober friend or family member or use public transportation
• If you see an impaired driver on the road, call 9-1-1 immediately
