Here are four of the top stories in San Diego today:
- Is there a refund in your future? It’s time to find out! The San Diego County Treasurer-Tax Collector announced that over $1 million in potential refunds are available for San Diegans. The deadline to file a claim is Nov. 30. Refunds range from $10 to $255,574. Check to see if your name is on the list sdttc.com. (FOX 5 San Diego)
- A nonprofit that takes care of neglected and abused horses just learned that a donation of over $5,000 was made on a fraudulent credit card. The shelter, Horses of Tir Na Nog, houses more than 100 horses, as well as sheep, goats and llamas. The animals are often nursed back to health and often live longer than anyone would have expected. Horses of Tir Na Nog exists solely through donations that cover the cost of food, hay and other necessities. If you would like to help, click here: Horses of Tir Na Nog. (NBC 7 San Diego)
- What happens to foster youth who age out of the system? The sad truth is that 31 percent of them in California become homeless. "It's sort of a dark and gloomy future,” according to David Baker, who escaped homelessness years ago. This week Baker will walk 125 miles to benefit foster youth who have aged out. He credits the YMCA with helping to provide housing, counseling and more, to help foster youth get back on their feet and on a path to self-sufficiency. (ABC 10 News San Diego KGTV)
- Don’t want to cook? Don’t want to eat out? There is another option. Local San Diego County restaurants are ready to prepare a full Thanksgiving dinner for you to enjoy at home. From turkey or ham, to stuffing or sweet potatoes, to green bean casserole or brussels sprouts, to pumpkin or pecan pie, a delectable feast can be prepared for you. No fuss, no muss, just order it in advance, pick it up, and enjoy a lovely Thanksgiving dinner. (Patch)
