Pair Of Earthquakes Near Borrego Springs Felt In Riverside, San Diego Counties
The quakes were reported early Thursday morning. Did you feel it?
BORREGO SPRINGS, CA — Two earthquakes centered in the San Diego area rattled parts of Southern California early Thursday morning.
A 3.7-magnitude quake was recorded at 1:39 a.m. nearly 7 miles east-northeast of Borrego Springs in northeastern San Diego County, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The quake was located at a depth of about 6.6 miles.
Residents reported feeling the quake across Riverside and San Diego counties, including in Alpine, Carlsbad, Escondido, La Mesa, Poway, Ramona, Santee, Cathedral City, Palm Desert and Rancho Mirage, according to the USGS's "Did You Feel It?" map.

The USGS said that the ShakeAlert system was activated to alert people in the area of potential shaking from the quake, which was first reported as a magnitude 3.9 temblor.
The initial quake was followed by an aftershock at 3:05 a.m. about 7.4 miles east-northeast of Borrego Springs, according to the USGS. The 3.1-magnitude quake was felt in Borrego Springs, Palm Desert, San Diego and Valley Center.

There were no reports of damage or injuries due to the quakes.
