Here are three of the top stories in San Diego today:

  1. Hospital cases are rising! UCSD Medical Center is “filled to the gills with patients coming in,” said emergency medicine M.D., Dr. Gary Vilke. “Lots of COVID-19 admissions are waiting to enter the ER.” The majority of cases are of people who are not vaccinated. Health experts advise that vaccines and masks are our best bet against COVID-19. To learn more: Click into parenthesis, then click the link. (NBC San Diego)
  2. They’re here! They are the world’s smallest penguins at a foot tall and 2-3, and they have slate blue plumage. "We welcome this colony of 15 penguins to our Birch family," said Kayla Strate, lead penguin aquarist of Birch Aquarium. "The birds are happy, thriving and adapting nicely to their new surroundings. Eventually, we're hoping the penguins will form a successful breeding colony." Come see the little penguins in their 2,900-square-foot habitat where you can come face-to-face with this amazing species of seabird. To learn more: Click into parenthesis, then click the link.
