Here are three of the top stories in San Diego today:

  1. According to Federal authorities, San Diego is the ‘Epicenter’ of fentanyl trafficking into the United States. "A decade ago, we didn't even know about fentanyl, and now it's a national crisis," said U.S. Attorney Randy Grossman. “The amount of fentanyl we are seizing at the border is staggering. Prevention is key to stopping the death toll," Grossman said. "Parents need to talk with their kids about fentanyl. A tiny amount will kill, and people are overdosing by accident, with many unaware that they are even taking fentanyl. No drug is safe in this era. Do not experiment with any illicit drug, because it might contain fentanyl. And it just might be the last thing you do." To learn more: Click into parenthesis, then click the link. (Patch)
  2. Have you heard? The ‘Lion King’ is coming to the San Diego Civic Theatre, and tickets are going fast! Now in its 20th year on the road, Disney’s the ‘Lion King’ opens Aug. 24 – Sept. 11. This ambitious production is sure to please the whole family. Don’t miss it! To learn more: Click into parenthesis, then click the link. (Rancho Santa Fe Review) 🎭
  3. The program is called ‘Parks After Dark,’ and San Diegans of all ages are having fun taking back their parks. Kids can jump in bounce house. They can take art lessons, and they can learn to dance, among other things. "We are always looking for fun things to do with the kids that are family-friendly, and it's local so it's great," City Heights resident Tiffany Smith said. The program is modeled after one in Los Angeles County, which has proven to reduce crime in the area. It is free to everyone, and it offers free food and groceries as well. Check it out!
