Extra DUI Patrols Planned St. Patrick's Day In San Diego County

A total of 14 people were arrested on suspicion of DUI last St. Patrick's Day ​in the San Diego area, according to the sheriff's office.​

SAN DIEGO, CA — Authorities warned drivers to not drink and drive on St. Patrick's Day in San Diego County.

The San Diego County Sheriff's Office will conduct increased impaired driving patrols starting at 6 p.m. Monday and running through 6 a.m. Tuesday in an effort to stop intoxicated drivers and keep roads safe across the region.

"People who drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs, including marijuana and prescription drugs, put everyone's lives in danger," the sheriff's office said in a statement.

A total of 14 people were arrested on suspicion of DUI last St. Patrick's Day in the San Diego area, according to the sheriff's office. So far in 2025, 1,379 people have been arrested on suspicion of DUI by law enforcement agencies in the county.

An impaired driving arrest and conviction can cost more than $15,000 in legal and court fees.

Funding for the St. Patrick's Day impaired driving enforcement program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
