Extra DUI Patrols Planned Super Bowl Sunday In San Diego County

During last year's Super Bowl Sunday, 25 people were arrested for impaired driving countywide, according to the sheriff's office.

SAN DIEGO, CA — The San Diego County Sheriff's Office will be stepping up DUI patrols in an effort to keep roadways safe this Super Bowl Sunday.

The sheriff's office has planned extra DUI patrols from 3 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday. Sheriff's officials reminded the public not to drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs, which includes marijuana, over-the-counter drugs and prescription medications.

In 2024, 6,664 people were arrested for impaired driving by law enforcement agencies in San Diego County. The sheriff's office made 983 of those arrests.

During last year's Super Bowl Sunday, 25 people were arrested for impaired driving countywide, according to the sheriff's office. Four of those arrests were made by sheriff's seputies.

Funding for the Super Bowl impaired driving enforcement program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
