- Every day, 17 veterans suffering with mental health issues take their own lives. Starting next week, veterans who experience anxiety, depression, PTSD, or suffer with suicidal tendencies can qualify for free emergency mental health care. Even if they are not in the VA health care system, veterans can receive up to 30 days of inpatient care, followed by 90 days outpatient care thereafter. The goal is to help prevent suicide among the 18 million veterans throughout the country, many of whom are right here in San Diego. (NBC 7 San Diego)
- The CDC reports that hundreds of thousands of kids are not fully vaccinated. The current rate of vaccination is at 93%, down from 95% pre-COVID-19. Local physicians are urging parents to vaccinate their kids before measles and polio reappear. Stay safe, vaccinate! (NBC San Diego)
