  1. For the next 14 months, youth under the age of 18 can ride free on public transit in San Diego County. SANDAG regional planning agency will let kids under 18 ride on buses, trolleys, and trains in the Metropolitan Transit System and the North County Transit District. The program will begin operation on Sunday. “SANDAG’s Youth Opportunity Pass pilot program will break down barriers giving the next generation a chance to experience new possibilities, and become lifelong transit riders,” said SANDAG chair and Encinitas Mayor Catherine Blakespear.   2. The annual GI Film Festival returns to San Diego on May 17. Taking place at the Museum of Photographic Arts, the festival is a military-themed film fest produced and organized here in San Diego.   3. Their names are Lupita, Versace, Chanel, Gus, McFly, and Victor. They are among the approximately 3.3 million dogs and 3.2 million cats available for adoption.
