PALA, CA — A wildfire near Pala Casino burned hundreds of acres overnight and forced people to flee their homes.

The evacuation warnings are affecting residents in San Diego and Riverside counties.

The blaze, dubbed the Henderson Fire, broke out at about d 5:45 p.m. Friday near Henderson and Pala Mission roads, north of state Route 76 in Pala in northern San Diego County, according to Cal Fire San Diego.

The fire had burned 300 acres by noon Saturday and was about 15 percent contained.

"Firefighters were able to make progress last night as fire behavior was minimal," Cal Fire San Diego announced. "Substantial number of extra firefighters and equipment have been requested for today, as there will be work to fully contain the fire. The fire is burning in steep and rugged terrain near Pala Reservation."

Residents in the following areas should evacuate or be prepared to leave at a moment's notice, according to Cal Fire.
