1. Several lanes and ramps along the Interstate 5 will close from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Thursday. Officials with the California Department of Transportation have outlined the areas of closure. 2. Fire season is here, now! To lower the chance of wildfires, Cal Fire has suspended burn permits in the county. "This year, there have already been thousands of opportunities for wildfire to impact communities across the state. The threat is real for our region, and fire conditions will continue to worsen until we receive significant rainfall later in the year," said Cal Fire/San Diego County Fire Chief Tony Mecham. 3. They have been here in San Diego since 1890, and they turn San Diego purple. Right now, the jacarandas are in bloom, especially along Clairemont Drive, and people have been noticing. “Absolutely breathtaking,” said Madison Clark. “They look beautiful. I like the colors,” said Sandy LeMasters. “They’re very bright, you know, very outstanding you know, they stand out,” said Greg Smith. Look around. Enjoy the beautiful of these jacarandas.
