Here are four of the top stories in San Diego today:
- The weather should be nice today, but rain is on the way for much of this week. For this reason, the San Diego Housing Commission has arranged for four inclement weather shelters to be open for homeless individuals. The shelters include: Father Joe’s Villages, the Paul Mirabile Center, the Living Water church of the Nazarene, and the San Diego Rescue Mission. The San Diego Housing Commission works together with the City of San Diego to provide shelter for the homeless. (Times of San Diego)'
- When you walk into the New Children’s Museum’s TKRTP Project, you notice that the kids run this place! Artists-in-residence SWISH artists helped students create posters, ‘zines, and photographs. SWISH also plans to produce a monthly digital interview series led by youth correspondents. It's a great opportunity for kids to express themselves through the arts. (NBC San Diego)
- A $4.75 million California Creative Corps grant is now available to artists to develop content and create awareness of issues affecting San Diego and Imperial counties. The Far South/Border North program offers an opportunity for artist to create content that includes public health, energy and water conservation, climate mitigation, civic engagement, and social justice. Application deadline is 5 p.m., Mar. 22. Learn more at farsouthbordernorth.com. (Patch)
- Looking to do something special today? There are plenty of events going on around town for you and your family. Daytime events include Beyond King Tut: The Immersive Experience at the Del Mar Fairgrounds and Jurassic World: The Exhibition at Westfield Mission Valley Center. Fun evening events such as a Learn to Cook Without Recipes class online and Middle-Eastern Drumming Classes at the WorldBeat Cultural Center. Or, go over to Mr. Peabody’s Bar & Grill for a Monday Night Open Mic. These events and more can be found here. (San Diego Reader)

From my notebook:
- Police check finds funs, drugs, and other weapons: "A simple traffic stop for equipment violations led to the arrests of multiple subjects in possession of a ghost gun, narcotics, and other weapons charges in the Ridgeview/Webster Neighborhood. Great job by this patrol officer making the neighborhood safer." (San Diego Police Department via Facebook)
- CARE outreach: "Our teams are helping unhoused people across the City and this week's outreach event was in the community of Webster. The City's Department of Homelessness Strategies and Solutions organizes these CARE Outreach efforts, bringing together the City, County and other local agencies and nonprofits to help people experiencing homelessness get off the streets." (City of San Diego via Facebook)
- WoofTrax: "A big thank you to our friends WoofTrax - Walk for a Dog and our supporters who participated in their Autumn Challenge! The campaign resulted in 600 charities earning a total of $45,000 — including $516 for the animals in our care. Check out the great work they are doing to create a brighter future for shelter pets and rescue animals across the country at www.wooftrax.com." (San Diego Humane Society via Facebook)
- Beautiful blooms: "This shrub can handle any form of care while still providing beautiful blooms! It can be in direct sun or shade, and dry or moist soil making it perfect for beginning gardeners wanting to decorate their yard. And as an added bonus, pollinators love them!" (San Diego Botanic Garden via Facebook)
