Inclement Weather Prompts Some School Closures In San Diego County

"The safety of students and school staff is of the utmost importance to San Diego County school districts," the Office of Education said.

SAN DIEGO, CA — Some San Diego area schools were closed Friday amid winter storm conditions.

The San Diego County Office of Education announced that schools in Julian Union School District, Julian Union High School District, Mountain Empire Unified School District and Spencer Valley School District were closed due to inclement weather.

"The safety of students and school staff is of the utmost importance to San Diego County school districts," the County Office of Education said in a statement.

A winter weather advisory will be in effect from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday for the county's mountains, where wet snow is expected. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches is expected above 4,500 feet, according to the National Weather Service. Winds are expected to gust as high as 60 mph.
