Investor Sells Hillcrest Building, Almost 100 Years Old, For $6.6M

The property, on a prominent Hillcrest corner, was originally built by Security Commercial and Savings Bank in the late 1920s.

A 10,362 square-foot property on a prominent Hillcrest corner has been sold for $6.6 million, according to brokerage officials.

Nicholas Totah, first vice president from the Totah Group at Marcus & Millichap’s downtown San Diego office, represented the seller, a private investor, along with the buyer, Chris Garcia.

The three-story, mixed-use property at 502 University Ave. was originally built by Security Commercial and Savings Bank in the late 1920s.

The building, fully leased at the time of the sale, was owned for almost 30 years by Peter Katz. Currently, the property is home the San Diego County Credit Union, amongst other retailers and office tenants.

The sale included two adjacent parking lots totaling 7,207 square feet.
