Here are four of the top stories today in San Diego:

  1. It has been recognized as one of the most innovative universities in the country. It was named the third best university according to the Forbes 2022 America’s Top Colleges list. Now, it has been named 8th Best Public University by U.S. News & World Report. Our own University of California🎓 San Diego (UCSD) is a winner! “UC San Diego continues to be recognized as one of the nation’s leading public universities, committed to access, affordability and student success,” said Chancellor Pradeep K. Khosla. “This ranking not only speaks volumes about the caliber of education we offer, but also about the growing impact of our innovative academic support programs and specialized wrap-around student services.” To learn more: Click into parenthesis, then click the link. 2. These bikers fight holocaust ignorance through their🦋butterflies. They teach social justice through lessons of the Holocaust. They speak of the dangers of hatred and bigotry, and they encourage empathy and social responsibility through education, the arts, and memorials. Their students have painted more than 300,000 ceramic butterflies which are displayed as symbols of hope and resilience as a way of connecting with children who perished during the Holocaust. “We’re trying to get across to the kids that you have to speak up, when someone is being treated poorly, when there’s injustice,” said co-founder of the project, Jan Landau. “It’s our responsibility to stand up for those people. That’s the goal of it.” To learn more: Click into parenthesis, then click the link. (Times of San Diego)
  3. On Sunday, 72 San Diego teens participated in B.R.A.K.E.S. — a free national defensive🚗driving program. Founded in 2018 by racing champion Doug Herbert, the program aims to teach teens how to prevent crashes. The program has trained over 100,000 teens. Want to sign up your teen?
