La Jolla Fire: See Gilman Fire Perimeter, Evacuation Map
The Gilman Fire broke out Thursday afternoon. Evacuations were ordered but quickly lifted as crews got the upper hand on the fire.

SAN DIEGO, CA — A wind-driven wildfire sparked Thursday afternoon in the La Jolla community of San Diego, temporarily triggering evacuation orders and warnings.
The blaze, called the Gilman Fire, sparked near the intersection of Gilman Drive and Via Alicante in the community of La Jolla, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.
The San Diego Police Department issued evacuation orders and warnings for the surrounding areas but lifted the evacuation orders and warning as of 2 p.m. Thursday.

The fire scorched two acres and threatened structures before crews halted forward progress of the flames. As of 4 p.m. Thursday, there were no evacuation orders and warnings in place, police said.
