Man Arrested In Deadly Hillcrest Assault

SAN DIEGO, CA — A man was arrested after strangling another man and hitting his head against the ground in front of a gas station in San Diego's Hillcrest neighborhood, police said.

The assault was reported at 4:54 p.m. Saturday at a gas station at 330 Washington St., according to the San Diego Police Department.

Responding officers found the a 61-year-old man unconscious in front of the business. He was taken to a hospital, where he later died, police said. The victim was identified as Jerry Puerile.

Police found the suspect, Solomon Guerrero, 55, near the intersection of West Washington and Albatross streets. He was arrested and booked into San Diego County Jail on suspicion of murder.
