Man Arrested In LA In Death Of Woman At San Diego Hotel: Police

SAN DIEGO, CA — A man suspected of killing a woman at a San Diego hotel was found in Los Angeles and arrested, police announced Friday.

Demaurya Wiggers, 21, was arrested by Los Angeles Police Thursday in Los Angeles, then transferred to the San Diego Police Department. He was booked into San Diego County Jail on suspicion of murder in connection to the death of 22-year-old Amy Carreon.

Officers responded to reports of an unresponsive woman shortly before 10 p.m. Oct. 20 at the La Cresta Hotel at 4980 El Cajon Blvd. in the City Heights neighborhood. They found Carreon in a room with trauma to her upper body, according to the department.

Carreon, a San Diego resident, was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators determined her death was a homicide.

Police did not release any further information on the case, including how detectives identified Wiggers as the suspect.
