Man Arrested In Storage Lot Shootings That Left 2 Dead

NESTOR, CA — A 27-year-old man suspected of killing two men in separate camper trailers at a gated storage lot in the Nestor area of San Diego was behind bars Wednesday.

Officers responded at approximately 3:25 a.m. Saturday to the 2000 block of Sunset Avenue, about a mile and a half north of the Mexico border, due to multiple reports of shots being fired, according to the San Diego Police Department.

The men were discovered inside separate camper trailers upon the officers' arrival. They were identified as 42-year-old Aaron Cruz and 64-year-old Richard Hartung.

Both victims lived in the campers at the location, police said. Detectives determined the suspect vehicle was a red Chevrolet Suburban SUV after watching surveillance from city-owned and private security cameras.

The vehicle was spotted around 12:45 p.m. Tuesday in the 100 block of West Calle Primera, where officers conducted a traffic stop and took 24-year-old David Verduzco Kruglova into custody.

He was booked into the San Diego County Jail on suspicion of murder.
